Avatar- Canine Freestyle Routine Improvisations- Dog training

Here is Splash and I improvising to the music of Avatar. We will be using this song for one of our routines. I am all over the place right now, so I thought posting this would give me a kick to get the routine down soon. I have gotten a bunch of ideas from just editing a couple days of practice sessions together. I loved the movie Avatar. Mainly because of the extreme bond and respect of animals shown in the movie.

Dog Training Behind Cue 12.27.09.wmv

Some might question why I would train my dog to get behind me. If youve ever owned a Doberman or perhaps other large type guarding dog its not unusual to pass people who are afraid of your breed. The most obvious maneuvers humans do is either move completely away or you they move their hand behind their back. There are also occasions when you need to pass and theres only room for you or your dog to pass first. You DO NOT want your dog to pass in front of you.

A lot of dogs will actually bite if their collar is grabbed when they are loose and fearful after having run away. This video was inspired by the little Shiba Inu I caught this morning at the park after it had ran away.
